Royal Wedding Eve

Well the day has finally arrived!  Its the eve of the royal wedding!  I cannot wait until tomorrow!

The festivities start on Channel 9 and 7 at 4pm and I'll be flicking through those channels and also UKTV and ABC1 to see who has the best coverage.  I want to see and know everything there is to see and know, from the guests arriving to the first and last dance.  Ha!

My little boy is at Preschool tomorrow, so I'll be getting things in place for my little wedding party, starting with the banners!  You've got to have banners for a royal wedding!

I would love to be able to remember the street party I attended at 10 monhts old when Princess Diana and Charles tied the knot.  Its uncanny that now, the next royal wedding, I now have my own 10 month old little girl!  I will be telling her about tomorrow for years to come.  It must be the english in me that I am so excited about this wedding.  I don't follow every single move the royal family make but this is definately a special royal family moment to remember.

We will celebrate with champagne and a little english tea party complete with jam and cream scones!

I hope everyone else out there will enjoy the wedding as much as I am acticipating to!

Have fun and I would love to know how you will be celebrating!

Back From Hols!

Hello!  We are now back from our holidays.  We decided it would be a great adventure to have a road trip up to the Sunshine Coast.  God knows why, I now say!  It seemed like a good idea at the time before the easter holidays.  A great family bonding time we thought the week leading up to the trip, a time to catch up and be a proper family with no one at work or at preschool.  Boy it was hard work!

When one child had a nap, the other would be wide awake and on top form, shouting and balling.  Even though we had all the necessary distractions in the car like an ipad and an iphone loaded with games to keep a very active four year old occuppied, they didn't distract him one bit!  We even installed a dvd player headrest thingie but it would not work for the world!  Kept blowing fuses!  Just what you need hey?

So after 9.5 hours up the coast we stopped over one night at Byron Bay.  It was awesome!  Had a swim in the hotel pool and then headed to the Byron Bay Beach Bar for a well deserved tipple!  We even got away with it for a couple of hours too!  The four year old made a few friends and went off and played (within our view) and the now 10 month old had a much needed nap.  So a chicken ceaser salad and a bottle of bubbly later, I was well chilled out and ready for a lovely nights sleep.

The next morning we headed up to the Sunshine Coast and the car journey was just about bearable.  As soon as we arrived though and whenever we got into the car after that, the 10 month old would scream!  I now think she hates car journeys!

So we did the usual trip up to Noosa, which is also awesome!  I highly recommend!  Also took the 4 year old to Dreamworld, which he adored!  I secretly enjoyed it too!  We stayed over a night at Hope Island on the journey home and then stopped off for another over nighter at Port Macquarie before we headed home to the Central Coast.

The journey back from Port Macquarie was the hardest as everyone was well and truly over eachother!  Haha!  Never again hey!

We've now decided our next holiday will be 2 weeks relaxation in a luxurious resort, with kids club of course, in Fiji!!!!  Bring it on!

Kids Fascination With Pooh!

I know, not a very nice thing to blog about.  I'm sorry, this ones probably not for the squeemish ones out there!

All my four year old does is talk about pooh!  I know disgusting right?  He's obsessed!  Whatever we see, do or hear he asks, "mummy, does an ant pooh?', 'mummy, does a dolphin pooh?',  'mummy, does a giraffe pooh'.  My reply is always "yes love, everything poohs'.

I think it may have started when my little girl was born.  Every change time, he was there like a shot, inspecting what she may have left in her nappy.  I don't think he's alone in his fascination, kids can't help themselves.  When his two cousins were visiting the baby, they too were fascinated.  They especially love it when theres a number two left in the nappy.  Urgh right?

He just announced it to me five minutes ago that she had done one.  'Mummy, he shouted, gorgeous has just done a yanky pooh', 'Okay, I'm coming now', I reply.  'Its a yanky one mum!' he says.  Where he gets his crazy word explanations of pooh, I don't know.

So, I'm changing her bum and his face is right in there, when the contents are revealed he goes 'see mum she did a yanky one'.

Funny!  All you can do is laugh!  Kids are so crazy!

Does your child have this fascination too?

Coffee Time? Kids Say No!

Well I thought it would be time for a well deserved coffee this morning.  The baby was napping and the 4 year old was playing in his toy room, so I made myself a nice hot milky coffee and sat down in front of the laptop to get my blog fix.

A cupple of sips into my coffee and after I'd demolished a packet of my sons Uglies biscuits in he walks, he must have smelt them!  So in he comes with handfuls of toys and starts telling about each of them.  Lovely, I know, but I just wanted a 5 minute mummy blog/coffee break.

So I listen to each of his gorgeous little stories about the toy in hand and then he wants a packet of biscuits himself, why not hey?  Mummy has just had some.  So he gets tucked into the biscuits and what do you think comes next?  Yes, 'mummy, I'm thirsty'.  So now he has a drink and a snack and toys to occupy him.  Just as I sit back down to finish my coffee, the baby wakes up!

Its hair pulling stuff right?  All in a mummy's day though!  How dare I try and have a relaxing break, there is no such thing!

Royal Wedding Party

Anyone else excited about the upcoming royal wedding?  I'm so excited!  You'd think I was actually going to the wedding I'm that excited!  Feel like a bit of a kid at Christmas.

So, I've heard it will be shown live on australian television, I think which will start around 8pm on the 29th April.  What are your plans?  I'm planning on having a little english tea party excluding the tea!  In its place will be champagne and lots of posh little nibbles.  You'd think I was having a party, wouldn't you, but we're not.  It will probably be just me and the hubby watching, well me mainly, he won't be that interested.  I'm hoping the kids will be extra behaved that night and go to bed on time!  I will be mesmerised in my own little world!

I heard the Beckhams are going and Victoria has already declined 11 outfits that her designers have put together for her.  Imagine that?  She must be feeling frumpy as she is pregnant.  But just imagine, her frumpy will be nothing of the sort, her at 9 months pregnant would have been me at 12 weeks I bet!  Imagine having a designer?  How awesome would that be?  In a way though, I do feel for Posh Spice because there will be billions of people watching the proceedings.

And poor Kate Middleton is now getting stick for being too skinny!  Leave the poor girl alone!  She is after all getting married.  Every bride tries to slim down before their nuptials, so its no wonder she's put in extra effort of slimming down as her wedding will be viewed by the whole world!

I've taped a few of the programmes on Foxtel which is a bit of a build up for the wedding, so I've still got these to watch.  Think I'll make a whole day of it!

Hey, I may even get dressed up as if I am actually part of the whole thing even though I'll be sat in my own living room!

Never mind Easter!  Roll on the wedding!!

Crotch Catching!

Don't worry nothing risky!

I was just holding my 9 month old and feeding her her lunch, as she wouldn't sit in her high chair, and I made a crotch catch!  Ha ha!  Quite funny.

I'll explain a little further.  So I was holding my baby and gave her a piece of boiled sweet potato to hold so she could feed herself, which she loves doing, and then just as she was going to grasp it she dropped it!  And voila I caught it!  Not actually with my crotch!  But with my mummy thighs!  Good catch hey?

Can you crotch catch?

Yes, I am a little insane!  Ha ha!

Starting A Blog

Why did you start your own blog?

I started my blog as a way of venting, moaning, expressing myself, or whatever you'd like to call it.  Its a way of telling someone how your day has been, or how you experienced something, or just to have a good old moan or gurn as I call it.

For me, its a way to chill myself out so when my husband does get home from work, I don't talk his head off as I haven't talked to another adult all day.  So this blog is like having a conversation and expressing myself.   That sounds a little sad of me but it makes me feel better!

Sometimes it can make you feel a little lonely and isolated when you are a stay at home mum.  Especially as we have only lived on the coast for seven months and are always on the move, almost every 12 months, its sometimes hard to make friends.  Slowly, but surely I'm starting to make friends but this blog helps me get things off my chest as though I would be talking to a life long friend.

Does your blog make you feel more sane?  Or am I on my own here?

Two Kids Napping!

I don't how I've managed it!  My two kids are napping, during the day!  Yay!

They both fell asleep in the car on the way back from the shops and have both transferred to their beds for a much needed nap!  It feels strange to have the house so quiet!

The trick was, I took the four year old ice skating, which is freezing to say the least, so wrapped them both up in lots of layers of clothing, then traipsed them around the shopping centre for an hour, fed them lunch and drove home.  Voila!

It probably won't last long, but its so so good!

Now, should I risk putting the kettle on?

Playgroup at the Races!

Off to the races?

I wish!!!!  I so do!!!  But I'm a mum!

I would love to get all dolled up, hair done, make up done, champagne in hand in a swanky champagne tent, watching where my bet gets placed and having grown up conversations!

Its so far away from the reality though, isn't it, for parents?  Unless you're lucky enough to have babysitters, that is!

But how cool would it be, to take the kids along to the kids tent?  If there was such a thing!  There could be a whole kids playgroup tent set up somewhere on the field where parents would pay say $10 per child.  This would be for their child to be taken care of in a happy environment, playing games, doing craft, playing on equipment similar to those found at fun centres with qualified day care centre staff watching over them.

It would be so sweet!  The little girls could even have a fashions of the field modelling comp of their own.

What do you think?

Would you go to the races if there was such a tent?

Please Mr & Mrs Races People make such a facility available?  It would be a little money making machine all in itself and you would have lots of happy mummies out there, including me!  I would be your first customer.

Unless of course, such a thing already exists?  If so, please advise!

Baby Routine

This must be a myth!  I'm sure!  Especially with your second baby.

Thinking back our first did seem to be in some kind of a routine eg woke up, had a feed, played, had breakfast, napped and so on.  What happens with the second childs routine?

I feel so sorry for her, she wakes up, has a feed, has a play, has breakfast, dressed then off out to whatever activity we have scheduled for that day and if lucky will have a nap whilst we are out, in the car or on the very rare occasion when we return home, if the four year old is willing to keep quiet for longer than five minutes.

Is it possible to keep both children happy and in an actual 'routine'?

Things to do on the Central Coast for kids under 5

Its that awkward age before starting school where they are bored and driving you up the wall and you can't seem to get anything done at home as they are constantly under your feet.  If like myself, you don't have any family around to send them off to for an hour or so, you'll be stuck for things to do.  We've been on the Central Coast for around 7 months now and we are just starting to get into a bit of a routine and trying to keep everyone happy and are slowly making friends!  Yay!

So these are the things we are enrolled in that my four year old boy loves:

1.  Definately start swimming lessons.  We are part of the 5 Star Swim School in Kincumber.  They are awesome and very patient with a bit of discipline in there for those who left their listening ears at home.

2.  Little Kickers Soccer.  We started this a few weeks ago and he's loving it!  The classes are at Erina Fair Shopping Centre in one of the hall rooms.  They have classes during the week and also at weekends.

3.  Ice Skating Playgroup.  Playgroup on ice!  Its cool to say the least and something a little different.  These take place on a Wednesday and a Thursday morning at the Ice Rink at Erina Fair.  They put a load of snow on the ice for the kids to play with and then afterwards they have hot chips and a drink.

4.  Amaze n Play.  Sit and have a coffee whilst the kids play on the equipment.

5.  Preschool.  Definately enrol them in a local preschool, mine goes to Kinburra, I found it suited our needs and our boy is loving it and has made so many friends!

6.  Avoca Beach Park is really good too!  I sometimes park a bit away and take his bike along so he can ride it there and back to tire him out a little more.

7.  Beach it!  If the weather is playing nice, take them down the beach for a play!

8.  Mingara.  If you're up for a little drive take the kids there!  Theres swimming, play centre, the lot!  Only been once myself as its a little far away for me.

Well, that's how we keep ourselves busy during the week and out of mischief!

Baby Naps Whilst 4 Year Old Is In The House

Totally IMPOSSIBLE!!!!

"Right" I say, please be quiet whilst I'm taking Gorgeous downstairs for her nap.  "Here's you're peanut butter sandwich and a drink of water and Batman is on the tv, oh, and whatever you do, please stay upstairs and no noisey banging of the toys"!

"Yeah mam" is the reply.

Five minutes of wrapping, cuddling, settling Gorgeous into her lovely morning nap and what do I hear?  Footsteps!!  Oh and this is after the banging of batman and the batmobile!

Jeez!!!!!!  Total waste of time, now my cup of tea's cold, baby is up, and back to square one!!

How do you do it?

Adelaide to Sink Off The Central Coast For Dive Site

So today is the day they will be sinking the ship Adelaide off Avoca Beach. I understand theres been a lot of arguments and protests over this but it looks as though those in favour have won and it will be sinking sometime today, although when I don't know, can't find the time this will occur online.

Its crazy the hype about this (to some) huge event but to be honest it hasn't been that well advertised locally.  For days I've been driving past all the temporary road signs that just say "road will be closed wednesday for event at Avoca" and "Terrigal boat ramp will be closed Wednesday".  I suppose this might sound stupid of me because I supposedly should know what will be happening.  Poor advertising I think.

I personally won't be joining the crowds to watch the boat sink as it would be too much hard work taking two kids on a park and ride who will NEED the toilet, NEED a drink, NEED a snack every ten minutes.  So I'll be watching it on the news tonight.
